A Highly Mobile, Purpose Built Drilling / Workover Rig
DDI Rig 16 is capable of working efficiently in extreme arctic conditions. It is a fully integrated, single- module unit that measures 119 feet long by 42 feet wide, and is capable of drilling on ten-foot wellhead spacings. The rig layout consists of three enclosed levels to provide maximum operational and heating efficiency. The ground level contains the mud pits, mud pump, centrifugal pumps, generator units, electrical controls, wheel assemblies, and support equipment. The second level consists of the steam boilers, moving hydraulics, pipe shelter, sack room, and solids control equipment. The third level comprises the rig floor, fuel tank, and water tank.
The rig is self-moving, utilizing a Columbia hydraulic wheel system capable of 2.5 mph over level roadways. On well-to-well moves, the mast remains standing, which decreases moving time. The rig floor is a fixed cantilever, allowing for drilling wells on ten-foot spacing. The mast rating is 500,000 lbs. with a ten-line string up, and 466,000 lbs. with an eight-line string up. The substructure is capable of a combined load of 375,000 lbs. for pipe set back and 450,000 lbs. rotary table load.
